Apprenticeship Eligibility
Process:
As a condition of eligibility for the Apprenticeship
Program, each Applicant shall be required to demonstrate their personal, mental,
and physical skills to the satisfaction of the committee, through a process of:
- Be
a minimum of 17 years of age (signature of parent or guardian if 17
- Complete
an application form and provide required documentation:
a.
Social Security Number
- Birth
Certificate or reliable information on date of birth
- Driver’s
License
- High
School, Trade School, and/or other education transcript
- GED
Certificate if applicable
- Green
Card and/or Work Visa
- Submit
a DD-214 to verify military training and/or experience if they wish to
receive consideration for such training/experience.

Complete
the math aptitude test as developed by the United Brotherhood of Carpenters.
A score of seventy percent (70%) or higher will qualify for an oral
interview. The math aptitude
test will equate to twenty five percent (25%) of overall evaluation and
ranking
5.
Be physically examined by a licensed physician to determine if the
selected applicant is capable of performing the essential functions of the
trade, with or without reasonable accommodations being made.
Cost of the examination is to be borne by the selected applicant, but
will not hinder the applicant.
6.
Complete a drug-screen test. Cost of the test is to be bore by the JATC.

Steps 5 and 6 are independent
of the process. Failure of either
requirement could mean disqualification from the program.
- Applicants
will remain on the list of eligibles for a period of two (2) years unless
they request that their name be removed, or upon their failure to respond to
an apprentice job opportunity given by certified return receipt mail notice.
- Complete
records will be kept on all actions pertaining to this Affirmative Action
Plan, which includes dissemination of information and oral interviews. Each
interviewer will keep a complete record of each interview, and the results
thereof. All records will be kept for five (5) years.
